Hello,
One of our users has lost the email addresses for almost all their contacts. The problem occured after the pst file reached 1.8GB. The OS is XP SP2 and Outlook has since been patched to SP3. Most of the contact names are not displayed when viewing as address cards, although clicking on the file-as drop down list and changing to firstname/lastname will then allow me to save the contact details with the name visible. However, it appears that almost all the email addresses are missing. I have selected the contacts folder and clicked "show this folder as an email address book" and that allows me to select a name from the contacts when pressing the "TO" button on compose email. The properties for the selected contact do not show an email address though. I've run scanpst until no errors are reported, I've tried resetting a couple of bytes in the middle of the file to 0 with a hex editor (as was suggested in a post for a similar problem) but that didnt help. The problems with the pst arent contained to the contacts folder, since trying to organise folders into a new pst, Outlook reports errors about not being able to move the folders. Is the pst completely trashed, or is there anything else I can try? |

Problems with pre OL2003 format pst can appear from 1.6gb
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=296088 may help. If the pst can still be opened try creating a new and copying data to this first, or try archiving mail, as you will lose data with the above tool "jckt22" wrote in message oups.com...
