XP Media Center Edition SP2 all known updates applied.
Outlook 2000 SP3 all known updates applied. Having a strange problem since installing Outlook on new pc. When attempting to set up a new appointment in the calendar, when I click on any of the 4 drop down boxes for start date/time and end date/time, as soon as I move the mouse into these drop down displays, the drop down window closes. I have run the detect/repair in Outlook to no avail. I have several other ap's on this pc that also have similar calendar drop down windows and they all work fine. Any idea's? |

This has been posted before. The problem is that you're using the "X-Mouse" feature, which means window focus automatically follows the mouse without requiring a click. While there may be a way to toggle that setting without any add-ins, the easiest way if to download the "TweakUI" Powertoy for Windows XP. http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/c/a/fca6767b-9ed9-45a6-b352-839afb2a2679/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe -- Brian Tillman |

Thanks for the response. I do not know what X-Mouse is. I did
download the TweakUI but do not see any reference to X-Mouse. A question -- why does this seem to only be effecting the calendar in Outlook? All of the other Outlook drop down boxes act fine. |

There should be a "Mouse" entry in the left-hand pane, after "About" and "General". Expand that entry and choose X-Mouse. Uncheck "Activation follows mouse". A question -- why does this seem to only be effecting the calendar in Outlook? All of the other Outlook drop down boxes act fine. Beats me. -- Brian Tillman |
