Default Two conctact lists

In setting up a new computer, I had to install the personal folders because
the first was wrong. Everything is OK now, except that there are 2 contact
lsts, one of which is empty. Now the contact screen itself is fine - I'm
referreing to the one when I am addressing an email. The blank concact list
comes up first, and then I have to click on the down arrow to get theone
that actually has the names in it. How do I get rid of that blank one? Is
there a file name for it or something?

I've had this problem before and it can be a real pain. There mgiht be a
better way to fix it, but this has always worked for me:

1) Right-click on your contacts folder in the folder list and choose
properties. Click on the "Outlook Address Book" tab and make sure the box
that says "Show this folder as an e-mail address book" is not checked.
2) Exit out of Outlook
3) Open up Outlook again. Go to the "Tools" menu and choose "Email
Accounts", then choose "View or Change existing address books". Then choose
"Outlook Address Book" and select "Change" You will then see a list of your
address books (probably has two entries called "Contacts: Personal
Folders"). Remove *all* entries here.
4) Exit out of Outlook
5) Open up Outlook, right click on the contacts folder again and choose
properties. Check the box that says "Show this folder as an-email address
book".
6) Exit out of Outlook
7) Start outlook again and check your address book, you should now have only
one.

Hope this helps. Just remember to exit and re-start Outlook after each
change. The settings in the folder properites and the Outlook address book
only seem to sync up when outlook starts.

In outlook, go to :
tools - email accounts - view or change existing directories or address
books - pick the address book you want to remove...and remove it!

It's not that hard. Only remove the invalid entry, the way Marco posted.

Thanks for the help. I sort of followed the instructions though at first it
didn't work. Eventually I got it right.
