Disable your anti-virus plugin, especially if you use AVG

Yes. Only one version of Outlook can be installed at any one time.

Is that disable the e-mail checking or disable the whole of AVG?

Thanks,

Re-install AVG, and choose the options rather than use the standard
installation, and then choose not to install email checking. Otherwise, if
you disable email checking after installing the module, the AVG logo in the
tray will be greyed out permanently and not only if it needs your
attention.

Just the mail scanning. Actually, with AVG all you really need to do is to
disable mail certification.
