Hi there,
My outlook 2003 can't be strated up when our terminal server user logs into the server. THere is an error shown that " Cannot start Microsft Outlook. The program is not registered properly. Please run set up again." I'm trying to reinstall MS office and re-activated the product again but it still doesn't work. However, if I log in on the terminal server by using administrator account or any authorized user as administrator, there is no problem at all. I can't find the reason why???? Is there anyone being able to help me to sort this out? |

I added my users to the local admin group, and they were able to open Outlook
and their profile was migrated. But when I removed them from the local admin group, they were not able to open Outlook again. Please clarify the URL for the user group you are referring to? microsoft.public.windows.terminal_services Thanks, Lars "Lanwench [MVP - Exchange]" wrote: In , Astin typed: Hi there, My outlook 2003 can't be strated up when our terminal server user logs into the server. But when I removed them from the local admin group, they were not able to open Outlook again. How did you reinstall Office/Outlook? You need to do it from the console, add/remove programs....make sure you specify that all components are to be run from the server. Please clarify the URL for the user group you are referring to? microsoft.public.windows.terminal_services I don't know how you'd access it from the web interface. Try using a newsreader like Outlook Express or Forte Agent, etc., instead. Everything's a lot easier that way...including searching, which is always a good idea to do before you post, as well as mark messages to be watched, and filter based on replies to your posts. I installed according to the instructions Microsoft has posted regarding
installing Office2003 on Terminal Servers. I did it via Control Panel -- Add/Remove Programs. I see others have the same issues as I - but can any one confirm, if it is possible to open Outlook on a Terminal Server for the first time as a regular user, or do they really have to be member of the local administrator group on the TS server? I did select all the default settings regarding "Run this program from this computer." It was recommended not to change any settings here. I thought by having the users open Outlook first time being a member of local admin group and then take them out of the group would be possible. But they are not able to open Outlook again without being a member of local administor group. Did I over see something in the instructions on how to install Office2003 on a Terminal Server??? Really appreciate some help here, since my boss does not like to have all our users being members of the local admin group, since that also give them permission to shut down the server, instead of only log out....
