Hi, could someone explain what 'synchronizing folders' means? There is an
icon on my taskbar that states "Microsoft Office Outlook is synchronizing folders". Is this normal to show on the taskbar and what is synchronizing? I have seen this before with the beta version but I don't know what it does, even though I checked out the Help section, which only explains if I want it or not but not why it's happening or how it's beneficial. Can someone help me understand? TIA for any thoughts.......katy |

Not that I'm aware of. I have charter cable, I download my mail from their
server with Outlook. I also have my gmail account set up to forward to my charter account. I do have my settings set to check for mail every couple minutes. How would I know I use IMAP? both my charter and gmail accts. in Account Settings are listed as POP/SMTP. Is there somewhere on my computer I could look to see if I do use IMAP? katy "Patrick Schmid" wrote in message ... Do you use IMAP? You already looked. The place where it says POP/SMTP is where you'd have
seen IMAP/SMTP. Any RSS subscriptions? I don't think the message appears because of POP... Patrick Schmid -------------- http://pschmid.net "katie" wrote in message : Not that I'm aware of. Yes, I do have 2 RSS subscriptions. maybe that WAS it. Does IMAP mean that
my Outlook/computer is 'open' to live, incoming posts then? I noticed when I signed up there was a warning about being sure that any of my choices were trustworthy. I think I'll unsubscribe to those since I had even forgotten about them. No point having something possibly risky if I forget it's even there. Thanks for the Help & reminder Patrick!! katy "Patrick Schmid" wrote in message ... You already looked. The place where it says POP/SMTP is where you'd have seen IMAP/SMTP. Any RSS subscriptions? Katy,
Nothing risky about RSS subscriptions. Nothing is incoming or live, neither IMAP nor RSS. All of that requires that your computer gets stuff from a server. The message you see is simply indicating that it is downloading stuff. You can leave it as is, nothing to worry about.
