Default Missing contacts

When I start to create a new message I have addresses which are offered to
me as a tooltip when I start to type in the TO field, that are not displayed
in the Contacts list.
These are desired addresses of people I have previously posted to.
Sometimes addresses that I want to use are offered and at other times they
are not.
If I select Address Book I can only see the same partial list of entries as
I see in the Contact List.
Where are the "missing" addresses located, and how do I get them into the
Contact List, and/or Address Book?
TIA
Brian Tozer
