Default SMTP Problems

I have a user connecting to the internet via a wireless router. He has a
bellsouth.net account that he is using via POP3, along with two other POP
accounts that use the bellsouth account for SMTP. He can receive emails fine
on all three accounts, but he cannot send emails. He can successfully send
an email to himself at the bellsouth account, but any other address I've
tried comes back with a System Administrator error syaing that the email
could be sent using any of the three accounts. All setting s have been
checked, rechecked and checked again. I have been on the phone with
Bellsouth and they don't knwo what the problem is either.

Any help?

Thanks in advance,

John

Try turning off any antivirus checking for outgoing mail.

The following from your post is confusing ( lot of POP account): "
bellsouth.net account that he is using via POP3, along with two other POP
accounts that use the bellsouth account for SMTP. He can receive emails
fine"

E-mail is sent via a POP3 account - probably "pop3.bellsouth.net" and
received via a SMTP account - usually smtp.bellsouth or
mailhost.bellsouth.net (assuming .net vice .com). If the account parameters
are not correct - say the SMTP account - then no mail will be received. You
may only have on mail account listed such as pop3.bellsouth.net - however
under the "servers'
tab (properties) will option for setting SMTP account.

Clarification.
Your comment:
"E-mail is sent via a POP3 account - probably "pop3.bellsouth.net" and
received via a SMTP account - usually smtp.bellsouth or
mailhost.bellsouth.net"
It's vice versa.
E-mail is received by pop3 (Post Office Protocol 3) is the most recent
version of a standard protocol for receiving e-mail and sent by SMTP (Simple
Mail Transfer Protocol) is a protocol used to send and receive email. Pop3
recieves SMTP can do both.

Sorry, you have that backwards. POP in incoming (received) and SMTP is
outgoing (sent).
