Hi!
I am using Outlook 2007 since some time. After 2 weeks without any problems, instant search decided to stop working. I am always getting the error message "Outlook can not perform your Search" in the window where the search result should come up. I tried to re-install instant search, but the problem is still there. And I tried to just give the computer enough time to index the mailbox, no results at all. Is there a way to "reset" the index database (my idea is that there might be an error in the database and that just re-installing doesn't delete the database). Or any other idea what the message means and how to solve the problem? Thanks! Alex |

Hi there!
Thanks for the hint but the problem seems to be kind of different. I cannot rebuild the database as "advanced" is just gray. And I am constantly getting the message "Waiting for status update". I searched Google and it seems as if some people have the same problem - without a solution so far. One of these damn bugs ![]() Regards Alex "Patrick Schmid" schrieb im Newsbeitrag ... Remove WDS3, reboot and reinstall WDS 3. If the button is still grayed
out then, let me know and I'll dig up some steps to get past that issue. Patrick Schmid -------------- http://pschmid.net "Alexander Moritz" wrote in message : Hi there! Hi again!
Thanks for your effort. I tried to reinstall after a reboot but no change at all - the Advanced-button is still grayed out and the dialog still says "Waiting for status update...". Thanks! The following steps might work. Let me know if it works:
1) Close all applications (esp Outlook). Stop Indexing service "cmd: net stop wsearch" and check in TaskManager's process list that SearchIndexer.exe was really stopped. 2) Delete %SystemDrive%\Document and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows folder with all its files and subfolders. 3) Delete following registry keys: a. "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows Search\Applications\windows" b. "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows Search\CatalogNames\windows" c. "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows Search\Databases\windows" d. "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows Search\Gather\windows" e. "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows Search\Gathering Manager\Applications\windows" f. "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows Search\UsnNotifier\windows" 4) In registry in key "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows Search" switch "SetupCompletedSuccessfully" subkey to "0" - you might have to change reg key ownership and change permissions first. 5) Start Indexing service back "cmd: net start wsearch" 6) Wait until "SetupCompletedSuccessfully" subkey will switch back to 1. If it's still '0' after 5 minutes it means the setup is failed again. Patrick Schmid -------------- http://pschmid.net "Alexander Moritz" wrote in message : Hi again! Thanks for your effort.
