Default Outlook slow to start.

I am having problems with Outlook. When I click the OL icon the splash
screen appears and then it rakes a long time before the program begins. Is
there any way I can get it to start quicker.
Rob

I am using OL with XP

What version of Outlook? Do you use a PST? If yes, how big is it? What kind
of environment are you using; POP3, Exchange? Do you ever see error messages
or numbers? Saying that Outlook is slow to open is a bit vague to try and
troubleshoot.

Hello Kathleen,
I am using OL 9, I use PST and it is 37MB. I use POP3 and no error messages
have shown. I have done a Detect and Repair from Help on the main menu,
but it is still slow.

Another possible cause, if you are not using or have uninstalled Windows
messenger,
In Outllook, Tools/options/other tab, uncheck 'enable instant messenger in
Outlook'
