Hi, I have a weird one, it has happened twice, once a few months ago on one
computer, and the second time just last week on a second computer. In each case I have needed to set up a new Mail Profile in Outlook 2003, because either (a) I have had to reinstall the computer due to a serious crash, or (b) I have needed to move the location of the PST file. I noticed that although emails had been coming in to the PST file in each case right up until the time I started making these changes, the 'last modified date' on the PST file was several months earlier - 'date X'. On setting up a new Mail Profile, I have added an Outlook Data file, and then browsed to the new location for the PST file. I have normally selected a data file type 'Office Outlook personal folders' (ie. 2003) rather than 'Office Outlook 97-2002 personal folders'. Unfortunately, when I then open Outlook, the emails displayed cover only the time up to 'date X'. All later emails have vanished! This is a serious problem for my organisation.... I have tried all the tricks I can think of, like exporting the old file, etc - but no luck. The weird thing is that the file size of the PST seems to be roughly the same as before, so I assume that the later emails are all still in there, but just not displaying!! I have come to the conclusion that either: (i) emails received after 'date X' have been stored in a different location to the main PST file, this location is embedded in the Mail Profile, and once the profile has been deleted then Outlook cannot find the later emails. Or... (ii) there has been a problem between the old format and the new format - both PSTs were originally Outlook 2002 files, but perhaps when I added them to the Profile as Outlook 2003 files, this has caused a problem. Or maybe it is something else?? I would be really grateful for any help with this, as it is driving me crazy!!! Thanks, Steve |
