I have set up my earthlink account according to the how to article. I can
receive e-mail but I cannot send e-mail. they had me change the outgoing server port from 25 to 587 but no change in sending. I have disabled my internet security and anti- virus but does not help. Anybody had this problem and found a soulution? |

they had me change the outgoing server port from 25 to 587 but no change
in sending Then why aren't they still on the phone with you helping you until it's fixed? Is Earthlink your ISP? Are you using earthlink through another ISP? What error(s) do you see when you try send/receive? Can you ping the earthlink SMTP server by name? To ping... Start--Run--cmd.exe ping smtp.earthlink.net You should see: Pinging smtp.earthlink.net [209.86.93.201] with 32 bytes of data Reply from 209.86.93.201: bytes=32 time =..... .... This will confirm the name of the smtp server and your computer's ability to resolve that name. "Jarvis" wrote in message ... I have set up my earthlink account according to the how to article. Did you try going to your email accounts under tool? Click to change
your account. Click "More Settings". Go over the the 2nd tab named "Outgoing Server" Check the first option "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. Check "Use the same settings as my incoming server" option. Close box and click "Test account settings" button. See if this work. Outlook 2003 has had problems where you can receive mail, but not send it. The above steps worked for me, but I am no expert in this. |

Excellent catch. One would think that the Earthlink helpdesk would have
went over these things with Jarvis. wrote in message oups.com... Did you try going to your email accounts under tool? Click to change your account. Click "More Settings".
