Default Cookies

What are the advantages and disadvatages of deleting cookies in the Internet
Explorer-Tools-Internet Options-setting-view files.
What are the setting refering to? should these be deleted/ modified?

I notice some are due for expiry year 2038 and to my knowledge I have not
requested these cookies to be resident on my PC
What is going on.
A link to greater knowledge would be most welcome

regards for any assistance
