I think this is the most confusing part of Outlook. Iam trying to move
everything over to a new laptop. I have copied all my pst files. If i try and create a new email now, there are no addresses to select from....But if I go into the contacts within Outlook they are there. What do I have to do to transfer my contacts over so I can use them??? How do the contacts work in Outlook? I have my pst files in My documents, so that I can back them up, is it possible to path other things to my docs as well? Iam using Outlook 2003 SP2. Cheers, Scott V |

if you have Contacts in the Contacts folder but they are not accessible when
you click on the To button, check these settings: Make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book. Right click the Contacts folder, choose Properties then Outlook Address Book. Is the box to enable as email address book is checked? If this is grayed out... Go to Tools | Email Accounts, choose View or change existing directories or address book. Is the Outlook Address Book present? If it isn't listed, add it and close and restart Outlook. If it is listed, then remove it and close then restart Outlook and repeat these steps to add it. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Coauthor, OneNote 2003 for Windows (Visual QuickStart Guide) Need Help with Common Tasks? http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/ Outlook 2007: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2007/ "Scott Viney @hotmail.com" svineynospam wrote in message ... Thankyou Diane,
I enabled that checkbox for each of my contact folders. Only problem now is that there are two contacts when I select TO: button. The one from before which is now the default and my original. How can I get rid of the one that has nothing in it? Whats the best way to move everything from outlook on one laptop over to another laptop?
