![]() Outlook2003 / WinXP Hi This drives me NUTS! How can I find out which folder an email is in? Background: I have complex filtering which keeps going wrong so I keep losing emails. I can find them again using GoogleDesktop, and I can open them in Outlook, but how can I find out WHICH FOLDER they have been put into?! Outlook Find is pants: The best I can do is try to search for the email using Advanced Find (right-click on a directory and click on Advanced Find). But the trouble here is that Outlooks searching isnt just gob-smackingly slow it's also ABSOLUTELY USELESS and very often I fail to find what I'm looking for. Ship Shiperton Henethe |

This is one reason filing mail in folders is not the best mail management
technique. Unless Google desktop tells you which folder it's in, you won't know as outlook's search doesn't have that capability. If you use search folders, you can group by folder but it won't give you the folder path. Advanced find works well, but slow, if you use the right keywords and folders - but Google desktop (and other 3rd party utilities) is always going to be faster. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Coauthor, OneNote 2003 for Windows (Visual QuickStart Guide) Need Help with Common Tasks? http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/ Outlook 2007: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2007/ Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Subscribe to Exchange Messaging Outlook newsletter: "ship" wrote in message oups.com... I used to use Google Desktop to find what to search for on
Outlooks's Advanced Find - if necessary searching the entire body of all texts as well as the subjects. I never did get ANY of the more sophisticated filters such as "From:" or "Sent to:" to work properly. But recently Advanced find seems not to be working at all. :^[ Ship Diane Poremsky [MVP] wrote: This is one reason filing mail in folders is not the best mail management technique.
