I now have 5 computers among 100+ that simply stopped updating the
offline address book. They give no error message. nothing is recorded in the event logs. success is recorded in the sync log. it says it does it, but it doesn't. The most recent user reported that he couldn't see a person in his address book that had been hired 4 weeks ago. It is the same with all machines. 1. if I tell it to manually download the address book, it says it does and nothing changes. 2. if I create a new Outlook profile, it downloads a new address book at that time, but not after 3. If I create a new XP Profile, it will download a new copy and keep downloading updates for a while, but quits after about 2-3 weeks. This causes major issues, so I prefer to avoid it. 4. If I rebuild the machine and copy the user's existing profile onto it, it still happens 5. If I rebuild the machine and create a new profile for that user, it will work normally, but this costs a lot of time and a lot of problems. I would rather avoid this if it is possible. 6. I have gone through the user level registry and found nothing I could interpret that was wrong. Has anyone else run into this? With the frequency I have run into it, I would highly doubt that other people aren't having this issue too. I keep thinking there is something in the user registry that is causing this, but there are many parts of it I can't decipher. I also think there may be something else causing this since I can solve it for a shot time by creating a new XP profile, but it comes back in a fairly short time. Currently for these 5 people, when they call in saying they need an update, I have them exit Outlook and I remotely delete the OAB files from their profile. They can then download a new version, but they can never update it. It's barely a patch and causes me some headaches, but at least they can function. I have been searching for a solution since this first popped up 8 months ago. I really hope someone has an idea. |

Since I can't find the original post and know what you've already tried (a
good reason not to trim posts) - I can only guess that you haven't waited long enough - outlook doesn't constantly update it and you need to wait 24 hrs. It also could be a server issue, not an outlook issue, so if you haven't already posted this in the exchange newsgroups, you should. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Coauthor, OneNote 2003 for Windows (Visual QuickStart Guide) Need Help with Common Tasks? http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/ Outlook 2007: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2007/ Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Subscribe to Exchange Messaging Outlook newsletter: wrote in message oups.com...
