Default Office 12 Beta Apps- cost $1.50 each

I just went to the Office 2007 download area, logged in etc and saw:
" Select each product you wish to download for a download service fee
of
$1.50 each " and expires in Feb 2007

The TR1 download won't do any good if you can't get Office 2007 beta
2 to
install. I loaded Vista pre RC1 and cannot get any of the 2007
Office betas
to install. What I found interesting, Office 2003 won't install
either. I
had to go back to Office XP.

If you are using 2007 Office system Beta 2 be sure to download the
2007
Microsoft Office system Beta 2 Technical Refresh, the most recent
update.
(The Technical Refresh is required to use Office Beta 2 with Windows
Vista
RC1.)

Here is the link for Office Refresh, however, it is currently not
available.
I am thinking that when they release Vista RC1 to the public, they
will also
release the Office update.

I've even tried starting them in XP Compatability mode but get the

Are you saying even if the final retail version of Office 2207 comes
out in early of 2007 we will still be able to use the beta until the
end of March?

So long as you have the technical refresh installed your beta is good until
the end of March as Sue has said. That should also mean that Microsoft
should have the final version available before the end of the 1st quarter.
In an ideal world Vista and Office 2007 will be released at the same time or
within days of each other. Of course Microsoft will only release Vista +
Office 2007 when they're 'ready' and not before.

Default Office 12 Beta Apps : Ck Out Office UI Bible/User Blog

MSFT *is releasing Vista and Office 12 way before they are ready and will
Escrow them both and RTM them both within the next couple weeks, and they
will release them both together to enterprise and public at their respective
times for each.

The concept of "when it's ready" went out the window shortly after Allchin
announced the first delay and quickly morphed into the energy of marketing.
The upgrade advisor is a crude marketing tool for more OEM preinstalled
boxes. It has nothing whatsoever to do with reality if you've been testing
Vista many builds on a lot of different machines. It puts out false
information that is not accurate all the time.

Startup repair is one of many features that doesn't work a high percentage
of times--and isn't ready and isn't going to get any better.

Ck out these for aids in the new Office UI thanks to Ed Bott's blog for
calling attention to them

This doesn't look like the same thing in the link.

Does this mean I don't have B2TR?

If I don't where/how can I get it?

Thanks,

Hi,

Installed Office 12 Beta on a fresh installation of Vista
(x86)
RC1 Build
5600.
Installation suceeds but when I try to start any of the
office
apps I get

"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows
will notify
you if a solution is available." Only option is a "Close
program"
button.

I've even tried starting them in XP Compatability mode but
get the
same
error.

Office 2003 wors fine though

Default Office 12 Beta Apps- cost $1.50 each

In Outlook: Help, About will show you the build number (starting with
12.0.). If you have 12.0.4107, it's B2, if you have 12.0.4407 it's B2TR.

This doesn't look like the same thing in the link.

Does this mean I don't have B2TR?

If I don't where/how can I get it?

Thanks,

Bob

How can you tell if "technical refresh" is installed?

So long as you have the technical refresh installed your beta is
good until the end of March as Sue has said. That should also
mean
that Microsoft should have the final version available before the
end of the 1st quarter. In an ideal world Vista and Office 2007
will
be released at the same time or within days of each other. Of
course
Microsoft will only release Vista + Office 2007 when they're
'ready'
and not before.

Are you saying even if the final retail version of Office 2207
comes out in early of 2007 we will still be able to use the beta
until the end of March?

Bob

Applying Beta 2 Technical Refresh extends that to March.

I just went to the Office 2007 download area, logged in etc and
saw:
" Select each product you wish to download for a download
service
fee
of
$1.50 each " and expires in Feb 2007

The TR1 download won't do any good if you can't get Office
2007
beta
2 to
install. I loaded Vista pre RC1 and cannot get any of the
2007
Office betas
to install. What I found interesting, Office 2003 won't
install
either. I
had to go back to Office XP.

2007 Office System Beta 2 compatibility
If you are using 2007 Office system Beta 2 be sure to
download
the
2007
Microsoft Office system Beta 2 Technical Refresh, the most
recent
update.
(The Technical Refresh is required to use Office Beta 2 with
Windows
Vista
RC1.)

Here is the link for Office Refresh, however, it is
currently
not
available.
I am thinking that when they release Vista RC1 to the
public,
they
will also
release the Office update.
