I need to turn the automatic feature of Outlook receiving emails off.
I have another program that receives my emails for spam reasons and filters them and I don't want Outlook to also try to access them from the web. Thanks |

Uncheck the send/receive options then. Don't have Outlook poll for mail nor send/receive automatically.

Where are those options is I guess what I should have asked. I know I need to
turn them off and in OE I know where to do it but in Outlook, I do not know where it is. m "margemarge" wrote: I need to turn the automatic feature of Outlook receiving emails off. If I had found the answer I would not be asking...

Thanks I'm a bit confused - why would you even configure Outlook to check this mailbox at all if you don't want it to receive mail? Re your actual question - post your version of Outlook so we can try to help. Always include that info when you post in here. |

I just don't want it to receive mail directly. I am using Mailwasher and the
mail goes in there first, then what is spam is kicked out so I can get those "friends" who write to me. When I set this up from Outlook Express there is no problem for that program has easy ways to set up receiving mail. That is what I have for my husband. However, with Out look, I am missing something here. I am not scratching my head furiously... I am just pretty sick of not being able to figure out this program and thought someone would have an answer... guess not. ![]() mabyn "Lanwench [MVP - Exchange]" wrote: In , margemarge typed: I need to turn the automatic feature of Outlook receiving emails off. If Mailwasher cannot run continuously in the background as an e-mail monitor and use its own rules to delete spam (or tag it so you can use your own rules to decide what to do with it) then you need to find a better anti-spam program, like SpamPal (which is free). As I recall, somewhere buried down in Mailwasher's menus is the option to run rules on the mails that it retrieves. I use SpamPal for tagging suspect mails and Magic Mail Monitor as the e-mail monitor/notifier that includes rules to handle the tagged mails. Sounds similar to what you want to do with Mailwasher. In Outlook, and depending on your version the menu navigation may differ, go under "Tools - Send/Receive Settings - Define Send/Receive Groups". At that point, you can disable automatic polling for all accounts which means you will have to poll manually. |
