Here are the messages I posted on the outlook installation board, and if you
check that board you'll find other people with the same complaint, also with not one response. Maybe MS has created this problem so that they can charge people to fix what they broke... but thanks for your help and effort. Nice to know someone cares... or pretends to anyway... what, you didn't even pretend to care, only criticizes... so thanks for nothing. ************************************************ I had outlook 2002 and just updated to 2003. I installed from the CD just outlook and not any of the other apps. now when I try to open it, I get a "Windows Installer" dialog box telling me it's preparing to install. I get the same results whether I have the CD in the drive or not. After about 10 minutes, it tells me it can't find the install server. Anyone know what I need to do to get this thing working. *********************************************** Also, when I go onto mail.live.com and try to access my contacts, it tells me it's trying to process my request, until I finally cancel out after 5 or so minutes. I did have the connector installed on my old version of outlook and I wonder if one has anything to do with the other... not that I believe it does. When I go into the control panel and click on mail, I get that windows installer. I've tried deleting the profiles and creating a new profile, but I still get that windows installer. Also I can't close outlook when It tries to open and I try to cancel the windows installer, I have to do the ctrl-alt-del but I have the outlook icon in the task bar and if I click on it, I get a message something like, if I have an exchange server I can cancel the request by clicking on the icon... but I don't. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate. "Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook]" wrote in message ... If you have a problem that you think Outlook caused, then state why you think it happened when installing/updating Outlook, what the exact errors and error messages are and what you cannot do that you could before. A general complaint with no specifics will almost never garner responses and snide shots at Microsoft will get you ignored more often than not. If you really want help, then fork over the $35 and contact Microsoft Product Support Services - these news groups are peer-to-peer and no one here is under any obligation to either read or respond to posts, especially ones that go on about everything except what this group is for - Outlook support. Oh, and by the way, if your machine was working fine before and you did something to "mess it up" then it is not MS that did it, but you. -- Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook] Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. All unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without reading. After furious head scratching, Keppy asked: | And, there's no help from MS to get it back the way it was.
