And, there's no help from MS to get it back the way it was. I've tried
restoring, removing outlook but now when ever I try to use a windows component, I get a windows setup or windows install dialog box and it's never able to find what ever it's looking for. I can't even go into add remove windows components. My mail files were totally messed up and finally had to uninstall all my office apps to even get the search files and folders to open without the windows install dialog box. Because of all the updates, I can't even use my Windows xp pro CD to try to repair the damage that outlook 2003 caused. Years of work lost because I can't use the app needed, so even all the backup files I have are a waist. I've posted for help in the outlook 2003 newsgroup, but I was never answered and in looking back are previous posts, I see I'm not the only one with this exact problem and that person also NEVER received a response or help for the problem that MS caused. No wonder Bill Gates is leaving MS! |

If you have a problem that you think Outlook caused, then state why you think it happened when installing/updating Outlook, what the exact errors and error messages are and what you cannot do that you could before.
A general complaint with no specifics will almost never garner responses and snide shots at Microsoft will get you ignored more often than not. If you really want help, then fork over the $35 and contact Microsoft Product Support Services - these news groups are peer-to-peer and no one here is under any obligation to either read or respond to posts, especially ones that go on about everything except what this group is for - Outlook support. Oh, and by the way, if your machine was working fine before and you did something to "mess it up" then it is not MS that did it, but you. -- Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook] Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Here are the messages I posted on the outlook installation board, and if you
check that board you'll find other people with the same complaint, also with not one response. Maybe MS has created this problem so that they can charge people to fix what they broke... but thanks for your help and effort. Nice to know someone cares... or pretends to anyway... what, you didn't even pretend to care, only criticizes... so thanks for nothing. ************************************************ I had outlook 2002 and just updated to 2003. I installed from the CD just outlook and not any of the other apps. now when I try to open it, I get a "Windows Installer" dialog box telling me it's preparing to install. I get the same results whether I have the CD in the drive or not. After about 10 minutes, it tells me it can't find the install server. Anyone know what I need to do to get this thing working. *********************************************** Also, when I go onto mail.live.com and try to access my contacts, it tells me it's trying to process my request, until I finally cancel out after 5 or so minutes. I did have the connector installed on my old version of outlook and I wonder if one has anything to do with the other... not that I believe it does. When I go into the control panel and click on mail, I get that windows installer. I've tried deleting the profiles and creating a new profile, but I still get that windows installer. Also I can't close outlook when It tries to open and I try to cancel the windows installer, I have to do the ctrl-alt-del but I have the outlook icon in the task bar and if I click on it, I get a message something like, if I have an exchange server I can cancel the request by clicking on the icon... but I don't. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate. "Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook]" wrote in message ... Easy to see how you became an MVP, you're just full of help and suggestions!

Just as full of that as you are full of details about your problem.
And why would you expect someone to answer questions here that are posted in another group??? -- Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook] Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. you know Milly, If I wasn't so disappointed in you as an MVP, I'd try to
explain to you about posting in the correct place first and getting frustrated so decided to post here (that I did post in the proper place) but then, I would be wasting my time trying to explain anything to you because you don't care to learn or to help. You didn't bother to read my first post with the intent on helping so you'd have seen that for yourself. Anyway, I'm done playing with you, obviously you have no desire to help. Are you still experiencing issues? I apologize for asking you to restate
the issue, but I am new to this thread and only read how updates apparently caused serious issues to your computer? Is this correct? If you do not mind, please restate the issue for me, or point me in the direction of the OP. -- Michael D.
