Default Mark folders read with a rule - Marti

Hi,

When I send selected messages I move a copy, via rules, to appropiate
folders so I can find them later. But the messages show up in the
folders "unread." Ok, I'm anal, but I have to go to each folder
several times a week, right-click, mark all as read. Is there a way
to use a rule to mark selected folders as read after a send? Or do
you have any other suggestions? Appreciate you help.

Aloha Marti,

Right-click the folder and choose "Mark all as read".

If you look at your Move a Copy rule, though, I think you can also set one
of the actions to mark the items you're moving a copy of as read. Might
depend upon what version of Outlook you're using.

Aloha Ben!

Thanks for your response. I do know how to manually right-click and
choose "Mark all as read" but was looking for a rule-based way. I
have Outlook 2003 11.8-latest updates, and can find no option in the
rules to mark the message as read anywhere. There is a place in the
rules for a "custom action" but I can't find anything that explains
how I might use that, or if it would work. Appreciate any response.

Aloha Marti,

I don't have an Outlook 2003 install right in front of me at the moment to
check but in your rules wizard on the Actions list you don't have "Mark it
as read" as one of the choices?

Default Mark folders read with a rule - Marti

Aloha once again, Ben,

I've been fooled before by Outlook, Ben, but I can't find anywhere in
the rules wizard to mark something as read. Can mark it for
importance or for sensitivity, but not as read. Seems silly, but it
bothers me to have those folders bold all the time! Thanks again.
