How does one synchronize data from Outlook 2003 on a Desktop computer and
Outlook 2003 on a laptop? When I travel, I carry my laptop. Before leaving I
copy Outlook.pst from the desktop computer to the laptop, and when I first
log on with the
laptop, it downloads a couple of hundred email files online. I thought
emails were saved in Outlook.pst and emails would be up to date on the
laptop when the updated Outlook.pst was first opened.

No that's not correct. The downloaded emails index is kept in the registry.
The answer is to set Outlook on the Desktop to delete emails from the server
after downloading, and then copy the pst file to the laptop. Also set the
Laptop to delete emails from the server so that it works the other way
round.

That's the default condition for a POP account. Simply define your account
and that option will take effect. In fact, you have to set something to
make Outlook NOT delete messages from the server. You would know if you set
the option to leave the messages on the server.
