Default Outlook 2003 XP Pro Will Not Send Email

A TALE OF TWO LAPTOPS:

Two (2) laptops, both connected wirelessly to the same secure network,
both running copies of Microsoft Office 2003 Pro are able to receive
email on the very same email account, from the very same email server.
One laptop can also send email. The other cannot. The one that cannot
experiences the dreaded "check the email address" anomaly. As in the
other cases, all is well in Settings Land, and the smtp server is
clearly accepting send requests - it is Outlook that is daffy. The
following procedures result in no change other than to make my head hurt:

- uninstall/mild registry cleanup/reinstall
- remove/add back profile
- remove/add back the single email account in question
- add a second email address
- switch pst files
- booting in safe mode and checked user permissions to the file and
directory
- moved the pst file to different directories

Again, I can kick off a send/receive on one over the network in question
and it goes fine. I can then move a half-foot to the other and do the
same, and it doesn't send. Settings are all identical and checked over,
and over, and over, and over again.

It started when I moved the pst file on the working laptop to the one
that doesn't send. (user migration)

If anyone out there has the supreme expertise required (judging from the
suggestions on the Web) to help, you will have a friend for life.

Thank you in advance for any help that might could be offered,

-Joe

Authough you have said you have checked the settings, it is probably a
setting error - it may be one burried deep like the SMTP SSL port number
etc.

The PST file doesn't store settings, therefore any copying of this will not
import your email parameters only your messages.

There is an application built in to office to import/export your settings
....
http://www.cmu.edu/computing/documen....html#settings

Unfortunitly you cannot just select an email account, its the whole lot so
be sure your happy with all office settings on your working laptop (on the
broken laptop save your settings incase something goes wrong).

Many thanks! O[S],

The migration tool is cool, but no dice - no mice. It appears to be a
variation of the password variable retention [lack of] bug in OutL@@k
2003. The pw field is populated, but it does not appear to actually
transmit.

I am going to watch the packets with Wireshark next time around. Bet
they ain't no password packets jumpin' the gap.

Not even the more drastic registry editing of the Protected Storage key
for the user in question/reboot works. In fact, somehow the old
password seems to populate the pw field after opening Outl@@k for the
first time after the surgery!

Its a headscratcher!! ;O)

Thanks to any and all for 'listening' and helping out if possible.

-Joe
