why does outlook lock up when i open it?

i am tring to set up outlook. When I open outlook it takes a long time to
open. When i try to set it up with my e mail account it locks up "program not
reponding". Is something wrong with my program? I went to the link as
directed and got the most recent updates.

try setting up the profile from control panel, mail before opening outlook.
