Just wondering - anyone with Outlook 2007 ever exit the program and then
within a few seconds try to start it again? It never appears to exit so you cant restart it from here. |

Actual shutdown after the UI disappears is slower than with Outlook 2003. It
improves if you disable any addins you aren't using, especially the .NET based ones from MS. Those are much slower to initialize and shutdown than pure COM based addins. -- Ken Slovak [MVP - Outlook] http://www.slovaktech.com Author: Absolute Beginner's Guide to Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 Reminder Manager, Extended Reminders, Attachment Options http://www.slovaktech.com/products.htm "Diamontina Cocktail" wrote in message ... Some common reasons why Outlook will not shut down completely when you click either the X or Exit:
1. PDA synchronization software with your PDA in the cradle. 2. WinFax Pro (especially 10.02 in Outlook 2003) - contact their support for an alleged fix. 3. Franklin-Covey Plan Plus! 4. COM Add-ins. 5. Mail reminder add-ins that keep a stub of Outlook open in the background to check for new mail and fire reminders. 6. Anti-virus/firewall programs that are set to scan incoming and outgoing mail. -- Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook] Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. All unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without reading. Not sure what they would be. 6. Anti-virus/firewall programs that are set to scan incoming and outgoing mail. Well that one is a definite with most people. So most people who use Outlook 2007 are going to experience this problem? |

I am having a similar problem. I want to exit Outlook so that I may setup my
exchange account at my University. When trying to inititate the setup (through mail in the control panel) it constantly tells me outlook is running, and that i must exit. I checked the Task Manager, it is open in the processes. Evertime I click to end it, it reopens within seconds.... I Can't make it stay closed. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks "Diamontina Cocktail" wrote: Just wondering - anyone with Outlook 2007 ever exit the program and then within a few seconds try to start it again? Thanks Actually mine DOES stay closed when I use the task manager to kill it off. You could try downloading killbox which is a task stopper. I haven't tried it under Vista as the task manager seems adequate. I would be looking at what other 3rd party stuff depends upon Outlook 2007 that may be just instantly reloading it for you. |
