Hello!
I'm trying to troubleshoot a weird problem with Outlook 2003 for someone in my company. This morning, seemingly out of the blue (nothing was intentionally changed on her machine), the dropdown with recently-used email addresses that appears when you start typing in the "to" box on a new message has disappeared. Anyone ever seen this before, and/or any ideas how to fix it? Thanks! Eric Law |

Yeah I figured it was something like that. So Outlook does this automatically?

You can't recover the old one but as she sends messages it will be rebuilt. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Need Help with Common Tasks? http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/ Outlook 2007: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2007/ Outlook Tips by email: Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Subscribe to Exchange Messaging Outlook newsletter: "Eric Law" wrote in message ... Yes, it adds names to the cache automatically. It can be disabled in tools,
options. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Need Help with Common Tasks? http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/ Outlook 2007: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2007/ Outlook Tips by email: Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Subscribe to Exchange Messaging Outlook newsletter: "Eric Law" wrote in message ... Update:
Ran SpyBot on the machine, it found a number of spyware programs. Removed them, and the Outlook problem went away! Eric "Eric Law" wrote in message ... Hello! that means one of the spy programs was interfering with outlook closing
properly. changes stay in memory for the cache (and some other files) and are written only when outlook closes. When outlook doesn't close properly, the file ends up corrupted and recreated when outlook opens next time. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Need Help with Common Tasks? http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/ Outlook 2007: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2007/ Outlook Tips by email: Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Subscribe to Exchange Messaging Outlook newsletter: "Eric Law" wrote in message ...
