Default outlook PST ...no address look up !!!!

If I copy the (outlook 2003) PST file from my desktop PC into the "Data file
management" folder on my Laptop...all looks good an in sync except I am then
unable to search for contacts in the address book...even though they ARE in
there .. the "Type a contact to find" search comes up blank !

Anyone no why this is happening ?

cheers,

Brian Canham

Hint: examine properties of Contacts

If you're not using it for mail, why do you care about the address book?
Your contacts are in your Contacts folder. Anyway, DL's correct. see

You need to configure your Outlook Address Book Service on the new installation. Control Panel-Mail Icon-Accounts-Directories-Add.

Thanks, I ended up sorting it out with some help :

this is the info that solved it :
Step 2: Mark your contact folder for use with your address book
1. On the File menu, point to Folder, and then click Properties for
your folder name.
2. On the Outlook Address Book tab, click to select the Show this
folder as an e-mail address book check box, type a descriptive name, and
then click OK.
