Hello,
I have been using OneNote to write my notes. Outlook supports notes. I am wondering if I should drop OneNote and use notes in Outlook, or use both. Please give me some advise. Thank you. Talal Itani |

Outlook's notes are so primitive as to be almost useless. Comparing the two
is like comparing a stick of gum to a steak dinner. ![]() -- -Ben- Ben M. Outlook notes are pitiful. If you are going to compare it to anything in
Outlook, compare it to the journal. I am doing alot of work in this area to bridge the Outlook Journal and OneNote since by themselves I think both are sorely lacking. But combined, they are very very powerful. OneNote is a great entry mechanism, but its organization sucks. Once you have more than a couple workbooks and sections it's a major chore trying to find things. Outlook's strength is that it can organize and view information in various ways. So the idea is to get the powerful data collection features of OneNote combined with the powerful organization capabilities of Outlook. Right now you can't do that but you might want to take a look at a free app I developed called OneNote Calendar that acts as a band aid for the time being. http://www.josheinstein.com/download/onenotecal -- Josh Einstein (Tablet PC MVP) Einstein Technologies Tablet Enhancements for Outlook - Try it free: www.tabletoutlook.com "Talal Itani" wrote in message news:ed8Th.5081$SK3.4208@trnddc03... ![]() Thank you for your input. I think your project is very good. You are right, OneNote is good, but it organization is lacking. Outlook organizes well, but it's notes are not good. Sorry Josh, but when I launch your manifest file, it says me that
something is missing to download and aborts the install process. "Josh Einstein" wrote: Outlook notes are pitiful. If you are going to compare it to anything in Outlook, compare it to the journal. That's typically the problem you'll experience if you try to download it
with a browser other than Internet Explorer. As it states at the top of the page, IE is currently required to install the app. It doesn't have to be the default browser, but you still need to use IE to do the initial installation. I'm working on a workaround for that. But in the meantime just use IE to install it. -- Josh Einstein (Tablet PC MVP) Einstein Technologies Tablet Enhancements for Outlook - Try it free: www.tabletoutlook.com "Juan I. Dear Josh, now I receive a message that I don't have installed
Microsoft.Office.Interop.OneNote versión 12.0.0.0 in the GAC. How can I do that? I apologize, I should have made it clear this was for OneNote 2007 only.

You haven't installed the Office 2007 PIAs. If you go back to the
OneNote setup, make sure to install the .NET Programmability Support (I think that's what it is called. It's the only feature in the tree with the name .NET in front of it). Or you can download this: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en Run the setup, it will copy a few files to a location you specify. Find the MSI file it put there and install it. What an elegant piece of software!
Easy to understand and use--I hope it turns out to be as useful as it appears. I've always liked the idea of a "lifestream" organization of data. Thanks for writing it.
