Default Problem with outlook and outlook express

I have outlook express set up but would like to switch to outlook. How do I
do that? I also receive a message that the Microsoft Exchange server is not
available when I click on a link to generate an email response.

What version of Outlook are you using? Most likely you need to remove the
account that's pointing to an Exchange server then add Internet mail
accounts.

Don't start Outlook. INstead, use Control Panel's Mail applet (the E-mail
Accounts button) to remove te Exchange account, if you're not using
Exchange, and add an Internet (POP/SMTP) account.

I would guess that you are not connected to Exchange, but a simple pop/smtp
mail server
That being the case and assuming OL is installed use the mail applet in the
control panel to create a new profile & set OL to connect to pop/smtp

I went to control panel and changed the connect from exchange server to the
pop address of my internet server. I continue to get messages from outlook
that it cannot be set up as is offline.

You added the Accounts & tested - in the mail applet?
If you get this msg when OL is launched, File Work Offline is ticked?
