I was ale to add my POP3 email account and receive my mail; however, at send
time, using the defaut port McAfee said it failed to properly scan th email and they were not sent and to verify that my computer was connected to the internet. The I changed the port to 465 and I no longer get the McAfee message; instead I got another message saying the outbound SMTP Server did not repond. Anybody out there with the same problem and with a solution? Thanks. |

Remove MacAfee from your system. It is the cause of many issues including the one you have at present. MacAfee will not tell you this for the obvious reason

Brian
I have a different view of MacAfee and also Norton. Had some that did exactly as you say and might I mention it is correct to assume as per your post but the issue came back with it even with the email integration not installed. MacAfee and Norton are 2 very incompatible AV programs that tend to cause many different issues not just with Office but also with the OS -- Peter Please Reply to Newsgroup for the benefit of others Requests for assistance by email can not and will not be acknowledged. I personally have never had a report of McAfee's VirusShield causing O/S problems, but I guess I wouldn't be surprised to here such a report concerning a Symantec product. Since the person spent money on McAfee already, it can't hurt to reinstall it without the mail feature, thereby saving the investment. If it still causes trouble, then it's time to consider another AV program. -- Brian Tillman |

I doubt that port 45 is appropriate in any case. 25 would be a better choice. Did you check your ISP's support site? -- Brian Tillman |
