Default Slow typing in Outlook 2003

Hi,

I've recently run into an odd thing in Outlook 2003. When I go to type a
new message in the message body there seems to be a huge delay from when I
type something on my keyboard to when it shows on the screen. Typing in the
subject area is fine, and even using the backspace key to delete characters
operates as normal. Just typing new text in the message body area seems
affected.

What i've tried so far is archiving a bunch of my older messages and
compacting the pst file. No luck.

What can be causing this, and how can I fix it?

Thanks!

I have the exact same problem. I also had it in Outlook 2002 (the last day I
used it). I then upgradet to 2003 hoping that the problem would disappear.

Hi

This fixed the problem for me: In Outlook go to
Tools/Options/Security/Security Zones, change from "Restricted Sites" to
"Internet".

Thank You!!

I've been screwing around with this one for a week. Does anyone know what
changed to make this become a problem?

I've read an email from someone from Microsoft urging people to never set
that to 'Internet'. This only worked for me for about 1 day anywahere
befrore things slowed down for me.

This tip seems to have set everything back to normal for now,
---
The outcmd.dat file in the application data\microsoft\outlook folder might
be corrupt.
1. Rename or delete this file while Outlook is closed.
2. When you restart Outlook, the folder will be recreated.

Doh! This didn't last long as well. I sure would like to figure out what is
doing this before I have to switch to another email program.

Hi,
What's suddenly going wrong? I ran into the same problem of slow response
to my typing in Outlook 2002 a few days ago. Erik Jensen's suggestion of
changing from 'Restricted Sites' to 'Internet' has solved the problem . Thank
you.
