Using Outlook 2003 on XPsp2...

Is there a way that I can prevent my own email
address getting automatically put into the list of
addresses I'm replying to when I do reply-to-all?

I would have thought that the default operation
when clicking reply-to-all is to remove your own
address from that list. It doesn't make much sense
replying to yourself also.

Up until now I've always had to go up to the To:
or Cc: list and delete myself (while grimacing at
Outlook for putting me there).

Normally, when you reply to all, Outlook doesn't include the sender's
address in the recipient list. If it is, it means that the original
recipient list (which included your address) includes an address that
Outlook doesn't recognize as belonging to you. What type of account are you
using?

Ahaaaaaa !! You hit the nail on the head there.

Our company was taken over by another one, so we
all have two email addresses:
and .

I retrieve mail using POP3 and regardless of whether
I specify company1 or company2, I get all the mails
that were sent to both. I normally specify my email
address as the company1 version. I see now that it's
when the email is sent to company2 that when I hit
reply-all, my company2 email address appears on the
To: or Cc: list like you said.

As a test, I just tried adding a second POP account
for company2 so that Outlook would know that
both addresses are me. I'd never retrieve any emails
from it (unless there's a fluke timing issue) because the
POP request to company1 would retrieve them all
first.

Unfortunately, when I hit reply-all it still defaulted to
responding from company1 and therefore included
me in the To/Cc list. This does NOT happen if I
receive an email from one of my gmail accounts.
It automatically responds using the correct gmail
account (of which I have several). It's interesting
that the two company accounts don't work that
way though.

Now I know what the situation is, I can ask our
MIS department if there's a known workaround.
