No can do. The very last rule moves all mail to a specified folder;
thus leaving no messages in the Inbox folder. The reason I do this is that Outlook prevents me from saving automatically saving a copy of replied message to the Inbox. So I move all remaining messages to a folder "New Mail" and thus when I reply to the messages, a copy of the reply is put into the same folder. So if I put the new rule at the end, the "All messages" rule would execute and move my POP3 emails to the New folder and then the new rule move an additional copy to another folder. I don't want that. If I set the "All Messages" rule to stop processing more rules, then the new rule does not execute. If I tell the "All Messages" rule to only execute for the Exchange account, then the rule only executes under the Outlook "client" (and not on the server ... as I use Outlook Web Access too). But I want the new rule to execute BEFORE the old rules ... as some of the old rules would affect the messages received. So there is still a bug that needs to be addressed. I have E-mail accounts, one is Exchange and one is POP/SMTP. I have 18 rules seach for words in the subject (or from), move the message to a specified folder, and stops processing more rules. This has worked great for 2 years. I then added a client-only rule that runs when a message arrives, through a specified e-mail account, moves it to a specified folder, and stops processing more rules. The problem with this rule is that unlike the other rules in that this specific email account rule prevents any following rules from executing (when the rule's criteria did not match the message). The desired behavior is exactly how the other rules perform. If the message matches the rules criteria, the rule is carried out and no more rules are processed. If the message does not match the criteria, it moves on to the next rule in the list. I'm using Outlook 2003 (11.8118.8107) SP2. |
