Recently an error occurred where I was unable to close a PST file... when I
tried it I receive "the operation failed. an object could not be found." I can't expand the folder either. Now I am receiving this on another folder that I can expand. I am afraid that once I open a PST I will no longer be able to close them... does anyone know how to solve this? |

Not without knowing how you managed to do this. "Recently an error occurred"
is completely opaque and tells us nothing. Feel free to provide some actual information. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Bob Provencher" wrote in message ... Try this:
1. Quit Outlook 2. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe). 3. Locate the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\Microsoft Outlook Internet Settings\ 4. Locate the registry key that contains the old personal folders entry, right-click the key in the right pane, and then click Delete. 5. Quit Registry Editor, and then restart Outlook. Except that in Outlook 2003 and higher, it is no longer possible to identify
which key is the duplicate's. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Cary Liu" wrote in message ... Try this: 1. Quit Outlook 2. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe). 3. I saw that article... but the keys seem to be different in 2003.

I did try it but had a backup... I was not successful.

Hi. I'm not sure what you mean. As far as I know I didn't do anything to
cause it. When I said an error occurred the first indication was the message I got. As an MVP, feel free to provide some actual help. "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote in message ... The more information we have, the more accurate we can be in trying to solve
the problem. Since we have no information, just create a new profile from scratch. Make sure you keep track of the name and location of the PST file(s) you need to use. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Bob Provencher" wrote in message ... Hi. I'm not sure what you mean. You had all the information I had. Sometimes you have to deduce a problem
from forensic evidence. In this case since I see that these types of profile issues are pretty common, I'm not really sure how what led to it is relevant, as the solutions never mention it. Fortunately the other user's suggestions cleaned up the problem. "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote in message ...
