Default vista/outlook question

I've been looking to get a new notebook more than likely with have Vista on
it. I didn't know if Outlook 2003 would run on it and if so are there any
problems with it.
I really mostly only use Word and the Calendar feature.

Should I plunge and get the 2007 (expensive).
Thanks for any and all responses,

Carmen
