Default Outlook 2000 - Illegal Operation ??

Friend uses Outlook 2000 with Windows ME.

Of late, after looking at an email, and then closing it out, Outlook
"crashes" with the message that there was an illegal operation. It seems
all the other functionality, other than email, are OK.

In attempting to correct the problem, whatever it is, I have:

1) uninstalled and then installed Outlook, and problem still exists
2) copied the outlook.pst file and put it on another computer with Outlook
2000 and email funtionality is fine.

Any suggestions what to do?

Default Outlook 2000 - Illegal Operation ??

"Outlook has caused an error in unknown
Outlook will now close
If you continue to experience problems try restarting your computer"

When I click on "close" button, Outlook closes.

Any ideas what more I can do; see what I have already done.

Thanks in advance for any help.
