I apoligize for the caps (shouting). I get no error message. I have sent
messages to other addresses with and without pics. Through this testing I have concluded my messages with attatchments do not reach thier destinations. Thanks, Steve "Vanguard" wrote: "steve" wrote in message ... i CAN RECIEVE PICS/ATTATCHMENTS BUT i CANNOT SEND ANY OUT. Steve Okay then. Thanks for sharing. Couple of things. First, what is your Outlook version. Secondly what format are you sending your messages with the attachment (HTML,Rich Text,Plain Text) Thirdly, is your Anti Virus (which one) is it set to scan incoming and outgoing emails.

... It was thirdly that caught my attention. I have unselected my outgoing scan (McAfee) selection and I have success in sending attatchments. That's because the anti-virus is causing a delay between your e-mail client and the mail server. The e-mail client sends your message in the DATA command it sends to the mail server. The mail server expects to start getting that content within a short time after getting the DATA command. However, your anti-virus program is interrogating that e-mail traffic and delays when it gets delivered to the mail server. Because you are sending HUGE e-mails, the delay is long enough to cause the mail server to timeout. However, a timeout at the mail server DOES result in an error message but you said there was no such error message. Did you look in the Progress dialog window for the status to check for errors or were you expecting some popup to appear? |

I have sent messages to other addresses with and without pics. Through this testing I have concluded my messages with attatchments do not reach thier destinations. If there are no error messages, how do you know the messages are not sending? Did you check the Sent Items folder to see if a copy of your message is there, or is it stuck in the Outbox? If it is in the Sent Items folder then Outlook successfully passed the message to your mail server. After that, Outlook has no control and the problem is with your mail server or with the recipient to whom you sent the pictured e-mail. How big are these e-mails with pics that are you sending? ALL e-mail - and I mean all - gets sent as plain text. Doesn't matter if it is RTF, HTML, or plain text encoded and it doesn't matter if there are binary attachments. All e-mail is sent as plain text. The binary content gets encoded into text and that is what gets sent. The encoding to text enlarges the size of the email sometimes to 2 to 3 times its original size. So it could be that your resultant e-mail's size exceeds the maximum size per message quota at your ISP but then you usually get an error from them. |
