I use Outlook 2000, Windows XP SP2, and have a dial-up connection to my ISP.
Whenever I am ready to send a message, I click the Send/Receive button and then I get a pop-up window that states: A dial-up networking connection is already established to (name of my ISP). It then gives me two radio buttons to chose from: () Hang Up and dial (name of my ISP). () Try to locate the server on the current connection. How do I get Outlook to always automatically chose the option "Try to locate the server on the current connection"? Thanks. -- tb |

Look in the properties of your email accounts in the Connection tab and set
Outlook to use "Connect Using my Local Area Network". -- Bill R MVP "Tiziano" wrote in message ... I use Outlook 2000, Windows XP SP2, and have a dial-up connection to my ISP. Great tip, Bill --it sure solved my problem!
I was a little hesitant initially because I do not have a LAN, but the setting seems to work just fine for me. Best regards. -- tb "BillR [MVP]" wrote in message ... A very old solution.
I'm glad it worked. The only thing you will lose is the ability to open Outlook and have it dial the connection for you. You need that connection established first. Years ago when on dial-up I used the same settings and would just go online first. -- Bill R MVP "Tiziano" wrote in message ... Great tip, Bill --it sure solved my problem!
