On my recommendation a friend has changed from Outlook Express to Office
Outlook. The change went smoothly - however, he told me he still gets some
mails going into the Outlook Express reader.

How can this be prevented?

OE will continue to receive mail, if accounts are configured and they open
OE
Delete the accounts in OE, or configure OE not to check for mail
