Default Cannot connect to email, all information appears correct

I have tried unsucessfully to set up Outlook with any email address i have.
Even after following the steps at microsoft office online, i have not been
able to get it to work. Im getting a message after attempting to test
settings that i need to check my email address. I have done that several
times, and it is absolutely correct! I must be missing something, but
according to the directions i have followed word for word several times, I
have done everything correctly. Can anyone help me identify my possible
oversight?

It's helpful to supply information such as Outlook version, account type,
error message text, exactly what you've tried, what your settings actually
are (without revealing personal information, of course), and any other
symptoms you can.
