Default Outlook 2003 Contacts Missing

When I attempt to address an e-mail, my contacts are not there but when I
click on the contacts icon on the bottom of the page, they're there. How do
I get them to show-up when I address a message? I tried importing them but I
was unsuccessful. Apparently I'm not doing something right.

Thanks for the help...Dan

You have given no information to use for troubleshooting.

First things first, do you have your Outlook Address Book service correctly
configured? why did you think you needed to import native Outlook data?
File-Open-Outlook Data File is always the correct way to access copied
Outlook .pst files (where all of your Outlook data resides).

I guess I don't have my Outlook Address Book service correctly configured?
Can you tell how?

I thought I would have to import them because they don't show up when I try
to add an address to a note. I have no other way to explain it

If you have Contacts in the Contacts folder but they are not accessible when
you click on the To button, check these settings:

Make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book. Right
click the Contacts folder, choose Properties then Outlook Address Book. Is
the box to enable as email address book is checked?

If this is grayed out...

Go to Tools | Email Accounts, choose View or change existing directories or
address book. Is the Outlook Address Book present? If it isn't listed, add
it and close and restart Outlook. If it is listed, then remove it and close
then restart Outlook and repeat these steps to add it.

RIght-click your Contacts folder, choose Properties, select the Outlook
Address Book tab , and check the box labeled "Show this folder as an e-mail
Address Book"
