![]() While setting up a new laptop for my daughter, I experienced a nice Vista feature. There is a search field just above the Start button. Typing into that search field will limit the shown choices for the start menu to the items that match the search string.. as you type. I am fond of a similar feature for the navigation pane in Outlook 2007, since I have a lot of PST files with a lot of folders. Anyone knows if there is something similar for OL2007? I am not talking about the search within OL2007, nor WSS. People using Vista will probably know what I mean. Thanks for any pointer. Dan |

There are a number of DeskTop search apps, Windows Desktop Search for one, I
use Copernic. They wont appear within OL, but will have a search pane in your task bar "Dan" wrote in message ... While setting up a new laptop for my daughter, I experienced a nice Vista feature. Thanks DL. But that is NOT what I was looking for. I already use WDS and X1.
In Vista you can search in a search field just above the start button for programs/folders that appear in the start menu. I need the same for Outlook navigation sidebar. The desktop search tools have another use (mainly searching for messages and files). Dan "DL" address@invalid wrote in message ... Well Vista is somewhat different to winxp and what is available in Vista is
not available in winxp PS I use Vista also, the search you are describing is basically a desktop search app, with enhancements, which are not avilable in other DTS apps. Allthough you may find an OL plug in which is more acceptable to you "Dan" wrote in message ... Thanks DL. But that is NOT what I was looking for. I already use WDS and X1. thanks.
I basically wanted a way to find a certain folder much faster where I want to store away email messages. I have so many PST fiels and folders taht I sometimes waste a lot of time to just find the right folder. despite the quite structured folder setup I have.. it's a pity that this little feature is not part of the search within OL2007 or WDS... thanks Diane,
would be a nice add-on, though. :-) dan "Diane Poremsky" wrote in message ...
