![]() "Alfred Einstein" wrote in message ... How do I remove the "Calendar" item from "Favorite Folders" in Outlook 2003. It was never there before, but it is now. I don't know what sort of keyboard accident caused it. But I cannot get rid of it. Mail folders can be removed from "Favorite Folders" ... just right-click and select "Remove from Favorite Folders". But the Calendar cannot. There's no such item in the context menu. Mr. Einstein, I have no idea how your calendar managed to show up there. According to Microsoft, only mail folders can be added to the Favorite Folders pane (see http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ou...97841033.aspx). You could try starting Outlook with the /resetnavpane switch. This switch "clears and regenerates the Navigation Pane for the current profile. (see http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ou...31101033.aspx). To do so, open the Run dialog (Start - Run, or Windows Key+R). In the Open field, type 'Outlook /resetnavpane' (without quotes) and press OK. When I tried this, folders I had added to my Favorite Folders pane were no longer listed there. HTH, Ron |

I tried it, and my "normal" items in the Favorite Folders are gone ... Inbox, Deleted Items, etc ... just as you explained. I can easily restore those. But the Calendar is still there! BTW, the Contacts item is there too! It showed up today, after I posted the original request (and before I did the /resetnavpane). It's still there after the /resetnavpane. Anyway, it didn't resolve the problem. Thanks for the idea anyway. |

Thanks for the link to MS. The 010031101033 link had a list of all command line switches. One of them ... /cleanviews ... did the trick. I used that. Calendar was still in the Favorite Folders, but Contacts was gone. Then I tried to read an email. Outlook aborted, with the "we're sorry but Outlook has a problem" dialog box. Outlook restarted itself ... and now all's well. Calendar is no longer in the Favorite Folders. Only Inbox is there. But I can easily add the others. Thanks for the lead. BTW ... during my searches, I found others with this same problem. I found on-line posts dating back 3 years ... with no response, no resolution. Lucky for me that you came along. |

Dear Ronald.
I had a different problem. I had inadvertantly removed my default calendar from the calendar view screen. I could access via Outlook today and click on thelink or from folder view. After resettting the navpane I had the direct link back again in the calendar view.. It is supposed to be impossible to remove the default according to MS but I somehow managed to do this. Did you try choosing the Folder List view and then right-clicking the calendar, choosing Add to My Calendars? -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |
