Default Rules fail

I have a set of rules (Outlook 2003 SP2) which don't seem to work when
Outlook is not run. I had not run my Outlook in a while and none had
worked in my absence. I checked to make sure the rules are not client
only, any ideas?

I had not turned on "out of office".

Aazar,

Do you use Outlook in an Exchange environment, or are you using POP/IMAP and
SMTP?
Server-side rules require an Exchange environment!

HTH,

Ron

Microsoft Exchange. I have been playing with it and when I define a
new rule it doesn't ask me whether it should be client or server side.
It used to in 2002/earlier versions. There does not seem to be any
options to force a rule to save to server.

I know why it does not work, it's because the features I am using make
the rule client side only.

The above says 'froward the messages to a public folder' ro overcome
it but there is no option available from the rules wizard (just
forward to people or distribution lists). How do you forward a message
to a public folder?

I don't know if you found your answer or not, but you have to mail enable the
public folder you want to email to, then it will show up in your global
address list. Then when setting up your rule you can select it from the gal.
