"Frenchy" wrote in message ... Have Outlook 2007 as part of Office Pro 2007 with Vista Ultimate. I notice that the Address Book is actually the 'Outlook Contacts'. If I go to enter/save a new entry, it will not allow me to use the drop down box and put it in "Outlook Address Book". So there are no entries in the OAB and everything is in Contacts. You misunderstand the purpose of the Outlook Address Book. ALL Outlook address data is held in the Contacts folder - that is where you add, edit and delete Contact information. ALL the Addressbook is, is a view of your contacts folder for the purposes of adding a recipient to an email. THAT IS ALL IT DOES. Therefore you are quite correct in saying that you can't add addresses to the Addressbook view - that needs to be done in CONTACTS. HTH Thanks. So why is the "Outlook Address Book" even mentioned? You don't add new addresses in there? Frenchy |

The OAB may be taken as a filtered view of the Contacts

Thanks. So why is the "Outlook Address Book" even mentioned? You don't add new addresses in there? And to add what Gordon says, the Outlook Address Book is a service that, when you click the To button in a new message window, will present to you all of the contacts in your Contacts folders that have resolved electronic addresses - either email or fax. In order for you to see ANY of your contacts when you click To, the Outlook Address Book service must be configured properly in your mail profile and each of the Contacts folders you have that you want to be able to reference when choosing an address must be enabled as address books. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |
