Default Office 2007 continually configures itself

For some reason Office 2007 continually configures itself.

It is installed, but every time I run one of the installed programs, it
configures again and again. I have tried to re-install it, repair it,
diagnose the issue, but I can't seem to fix it. This is an install CD
from my Technet subscription, but this happens when I use my retail CD
of Office 2003 as well.

Operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium SP1.

Any ideas?

it usually means the windows installer is broken. Are you using both office
2003 and 2007 on the same system? That can cause issues too.

How do I repair the Windows Installer?

Basically repair it in the programs window?

should be some kbs on it. my method was to install something else,
preferably something I rarely used, so it would be unhooked from office and
hooked to the newly installed program.

if you have both versions of office installed and are using them, you might
get the config screen more often because it really doesn't need to do some
configuring.

I just tried to install something else, and the same thing happened.

It seems I will waste less time by just restoring this laptop back to
factory and starting again rather than trying to fix this issue.
