Everytime I send an email to one particular person I always get back a reply
from him a few seconds later with the same subject but nothing in the message. He uses Outlook 2007 and it looks like some setting on there needs adjusting to prevent this happening. Any idea how to do this? |

One thing that can cause this is scanning messages with an antivirus scanner. Both you and he should uninstall your AV programs and reinstall them without the mail scanning feature to see if that changes anything. You might also want to check the font to see if it's set to the same color as the background. RIght-click in the body of the seemingly blank message and choose Select All. I just checked on a blank message re the font etc. If I right click the
message I don't get the option to Select All, only Synonyms, Translante and View Source. I tried Ctrl+A and that selects just one space in top left of the message. Don't quite know how to check on the color of the font but if I choose to edit the message, anything I type comes out black on white background. "Brian Tillman" wrote in message ... Does anything appear? -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] Neither of us has any AV programs installed and it looks like I am the only one to get these blank responses (none of his other contacts have mentioned receiving similar blank messages). Just to make things clear I get the blank response just a few seconds after I send the mail even if he has not replied to my message or even seen the message if he's not at his desk. If he replies to the mail, I get the blank message immediately after I send the mail and then his reply a little after he sends it. Jan |

is it an automated reply or does he actually type something in it and you
can't see it? the first could be anything from read receipts to rules or who knows... the second is a known problem. He needs to make sure he has all the latest patches and updates installed and disable outgoing email scanning on his antivirus. Some firewalls do virus/trojan scanning on outbound email and if his does, that needs disabled. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Need Help with Common Tasks? http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/ Outlook 2007: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2007/ Outlook Tips by email: Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Subscribe to Exchange Messaging Outlook newsletter: "Jan" jan@hotmail wrote in message ... He does not have to send a reply for me to get the blank message back which
happens just a few seconds after I send it. I don't request read receipts so can't see how this would cause the automated response. No AV is installed on either of our machines and the firewall on his machine is the built-in XP firewall.
