Default Downloaded again and aagin messages

Just moved from old PC Outlook express to new PC with Outlook all was Ok til
someone went into Outlook Express by mistake and set it as the default.
managed to move back to outlook but all the messages from the server are
being downloaded again and again now have an inbox of 800!. I wanted to keep
a copy of messages on the server (so i can access over internet & check
messages) Any ideas what is up?
I cant cope with the repeated downloads!
