Default My reading pane won't open and I can't turn Outlook off

I have Outlook 2007. I have my disk partitioned so I can use it and also my
wife. My wifes Oultook is terribly slow. the reading pane won't show the
message and I cannot turn it off. Though all other commands work fine (eg I
can minimise and reduce size etc.

It is driving me CRAZY.

Paddy
