I've come across this before and was wondering if my suggestion\complaint is
on a list for future improvements. If I accidentally press a key on my keyboard while viewing Contacts in the Data File view, the keystroke changes the individual contact. I recently had this happen while on vacation and the one keystroke changed the last name of a contact and I could not remember the original 'last name'. Suffice it to say, I was screwed until I could find a backup and reinstall the latest pst file. It really would be great if I were offered - 'The contact has been changed, do you wish to save?'... or something like that. Thoughts? Thanks, DH |

Sounds like you have incell editing enabled - turn it off in View,
customize, other settings. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Need Help with Common Tasks? http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/ Outlook 2007: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2007/ Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com You can access this newsgroup by visiting http://www.microsoft.com/office/comm...s/default.mspx or point your newsreader to msnews.microsoft.com. Diane, you were correct, I had incell editing enabled. I went through all
the other possible views and turned that 'feature' off to avoid this problem in the future. Thank you! Dave Horne - The Netherlands "Diane Poremsky [MVP]" wrote in message ... Diane, again I thank you for your reply.
I would still like to pass on a suggestion to the good folks at MS - if I 'reset' current view, the default setting _allows_ in-cell editing. I personally think that is asking for problems. My specific example - I accidentally pressed a key while in Outlook Data File view and essentially erased an individual's last name. My two cents. In-cell editing is enabled by default in some views, but not others. It is a
useful feature for many users - the problem is that many more don't know about it. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Need Help with Common Tasks? http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/ Outlook 2007: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2007/ Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com You can access this newsgroup by visiting http://www.microsoft.com/office/comm...s/default.mspx or point your newsreader to msnews.microsoft.com.
